If you sometimes doubt yourself or think that you are not good enough then you need a Self Esteem Booster. Try one or more of the following:
Self Esteem Booster I
Stage 1
Get yourself a hardback notebook that you can write in. Something beautiful that you will view with pleasure. Now, cast your mind back throughout your life and note down every single success that you have ever had. These successes could range from learning to walk and to talk through to getting married and passing your driving test. They can be small successes like tying your shoe laces the first time or major successes like climbing Mount Everest. Write them all down in your special notebook. And aim to find at least one hundred successes from your life up until today.
Stage 2
Take out your Success Journal every evening and review your day. Where have you succeeded today? Have you solved a problem at work? Or made a sale? Or cooked a meal? Write down each day’s successes as they happen.
Stage 3
Spend a few minutes each week reading your Success Journal. Allow yourself to appreciate yourself and your successes. Get the feeling of achievement into your thinking and into yourself fully. Realise that, just as you have succeeded in the past so you can succeed today and tomorrow and into the future.
When you start to believe in yourself and know that you are good enough it could be useful to look at your successes and analyse what you did when you succeeded. Is there a particular sequence of actions or beliefs? For example: you knew what you were trying to achieve, you believed you could do it and you kept trying until you succeeded. Once you have discovered the sequence of actions and beliefs you can duplicate that sequence to ensure success in the future.
Self Esteem Booster II
Create a phrase that would encourage you and make you feel good. For example: “I am attractive and popular”; “I am an excellent architect”. This phrase must be very personal to you and really make you feel good about yourself. Then make up a little song around your phrase and sing it to yourself loudly and joyfully whenever you can. You can sing it in the car or in the bath or wherever you happen to be. Making it a song means that the self esteem boosting bypasses your critical consciousness before it has a chance to dismiss the statement and disbelieve it.
Self Esteem Booster III
Take a mirror and look deeply into the eyes of your reflection. Tell your reflection all the reasons why you love him or her. This is an opportunity to fully appreciate yourself and all your good points. Really speak to your soul as you appreciate yourself and let yourself know you are truly a worthy and exceptional person.
