Do You Really Want To Be Rich?
Well, do you really want to be rich?
Most people would say, “Yes, Of course I want to be rich” but think about it carefully.
Actually most poor people don’t want to be rich in their heart of hearts. They regard rich people as “different”, “dishonest”, “unpleasant” or worse. They think that “money is the root of all evil”, “money doesn’t grow on trees”, “if I’m rich someone else has to be poor”, “making lots of money is immoral”.
These are all limiting beliefs. They are not true. And they can be changed.
So, what limiting beliefs are holding you back?
If you have trouble recognising your own limiting beliefs then complete the following statements as many times as you can. Really take the time to answer them:
- Money makes me angry because…
- Money makes me sad because…
- Money makes me afraid because…
- The problem with having money is…
- Rich people are…
- I hate rich people because…
- The worst thing about having money is…
- I can’t be rich because…
Once you’ve done that exercise you will start to recognise your own limiting beliefs. That’s half the battle. The second half of the battle is to do something about them!
Take each belief in turn and turn it around into the opposite. For example, if you hold the belief that “I must work hard to make money”, you can turn it around to “I can make money without working”. Then come up with justifications for the new belief.
To continue the same example: I can make money without working by getting paid interest, by winning it, by being given it, by getting paid royalties on something I created years ago, by selling stuff that’s lying around the house… And anything else you can think of.
Come up with as many different reasons to support the opposite beliefs as you can.
Which belief do you want to hold? The old limiting belief? Or the new empowering one?
Now you’ve created the opposite beliefs and justified them it will be much easier to own them. Create affirmations from your new beliefs. Write them out 25 times every single day. Read them and really feel them to be true. Immerse yourself in these new beliefs.
With enough repetition and enough feeling, the new beliefs will become a part of you. They will replace the old limiting beliefs.
Now, when I ask you “Do you really want to be rich?” you can answer “Yes!” and mean it.
